About PowderDash

Our Mission

PowderDash exists to help skiers make informed decisions about Canadian ski resorts. We provide objective data, practical guides, and editorial context for Whistler Blackcomb, Lake Louise, and Mont Tremblant—three of Canada's premier ski destinations.

Planning a ski trip involves evaluating snow conditions, terrain variety, travel logistics, and budget—all while filtering through marketing hype and outdated information. PowderDash cuts through the noise with clear, factual reporting and editorial insights based on data, not promotional relationships.

We are not a booking platform. We don't sell lift tickets or lodging directly. Instead, we focus on information: snow reports, webcams, trail maps, operational status, and practical trip-planning advice. Where we include links to official resort partners or accommodation providers, they're clearly labeled as affiliate links. Our goal is to help you choose the right mountain for your needs, not to push the quickest sale.

What We Cover

PowderDash provides comprehensive information for three Canadian ski resorts:

  • Whistler Blackcomb - British Columbia: North America's largest ski resort, offering 8,171 acres, 37 lifts, and 1,609m of vertical drop.
  • Lake Louise - Alberta: Situated in Banff National Park with stunning Rocky Mountain scenery, 4,200 acres, and champagne powder.
  • Mont Tremblant - Quebec: European-style pedestrian village, 755 acres, and easy access from Montreal.
Canadian ski resorts

For each resort, we provide:

  • Current snow conditions (base depth, fresh snowfall, operational status)
  • Live webcam access and trail maps
  • Terrain breakdowns and ski ability recommendations
  • Ticket pricing and season pass information
  • Travel logistics (airports, drive times, public transit)
  • Lodging recommendations and budget estimates
  • Safety information and mountain etiquette
  • Comprehensive FAQs answering 50+ common questions

Our blog features long-form guides (800-1200+ words) on topics like reading snow reports, optimal ski timing by province, family trip planning, and budget packing lists. Every article includes TL;DR summaries, actionable checklists, and internal links to related resources.

Editorial Policy

PowderDash is committed to objective, accurate reporting. Our editorial content is not influenced by commercial relationships, advertising, or promotional partnerships. Here's how we work:

Independence

We are not owned by, operated by, or officially affiliated with any ski resort, lift company, or travel booking platform. PowderDash is an independent informational website. We do not accept payment for coverage, favorable reviews, or prioritized placement.

Data Sources

We pull snow and operational data from official resort sources where available. When exact figures aren't published, we provide reasonable estimates based on historical averages and note them as approximations. We do not fabricate numbers or claim precision where it doesn't exist.

Current conditions (snow depth, fresh snowfall, lift status) are structured to integrate with live APIs, though our site currently displays representative data with clear timestamps indicating "last updated." We always recommend verifying conditions on the official resort website immediately before traveling.

Corrections & Updates

If you spot an error, outdated information, or misleading claim, please contact us at our contact page. We review all submissions and correct mistakes promptly. Transparency builds trust—we'd rather admit an error than defend inaccuracy.

No Promotional Content

We don't publish press releases, advertorials, or sponsored content disguised as editorial. If an article is sponsored (unlikely but theoretically possible in the future), it will be clearly labeled as "Sponsored" at the top. To date, we have published zero sponsored articles.

Affiliate Disclosure

PowderDash uses affiliate links to generate revenue. When you click a link labeled "Affiliate link" and make a purchase, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. This supports the site's operation (hosting, maintenance, content creation) but does not influence our editorial content or recommendations.

What this means in practice:

  • We link to official resort ticketing and lodging booking partners. If you purchase through these links, we may earn a small percentage.
  • Our comparison tables, snow reports, and guides present objective data regardless of affiliate relationships. We do not rank resorts higher or recommend one over another because of commission potential.
  • Affiliate links are clearly labeled. We don't hide them or disguise them as editorial recommendations.
  • If a product or service is substandard, we won't recommend it just because it has an affiliate program. Trust matters more than short-term revenue.

Federal Trade Commission (FTC) guidelines require transparency in affiliate relationships. We comply fully and believe clear disclosure benefits readers. If you prefer not to use affiliate links, you can always navigate directly to resort websites by typing URLs into your browser.

Who We Are

PowderDash is owned and operated by Nataliia Ofitserova, registered in the United Kingdom. We are a small editorial team passionate about skiing, data, and helping people make better decisions. We've skied the resorts we cover, read countless snow reports, sat through wind holds, and experienced the highs (powder days) and lows (icy groomers, closed lifts) of Canadian mountain skiing.

Our team on the slopes

We built this site because we wished it existed when we were planning our own trips. Too many ski resources are either marketing fluff (resort websites), outdated (personal blogs abandoned years ago), or fragmented (scattered across forums, social media, and trip advisor). PowderDash consolidates reliable information in one place, presented clearly and updated regularly.
